Haiku and Petal Party Kit

 

For the month of November, we had two kits that everyone could choose from. Of course, those who wanted to, could choose to do both of them. This is the second kit that was available. This kit consisted of Haiku DSP and Petal Party Simply Scrappin' Kit.

 

This is the second set of double-page spreads. This kit has some really bright colors in it, such as the Pixie Pink. I could not have thought to put some of these colors together. But they do look good together.

 

It's not all bright colors in this kit. Some of them are a little more subdued, such as for these pages. The pages in this kit were definitely simpler pages than what we did last month. I do like to add little touches of ribbon and eyelets to my pages, too, like in the two above.

 

I really loved the paper that was used for the topper on the first page. I did dress it up a little with some White Taffeta ribbon. Here's one of those page with the Pixie Pink. To tone it down a little, I used the striped paper and Whisper White photo frames.

 

These are the final two pages from this class. The first one is Old Olive for the background with some of the Haiku DSP for the side and top. The second one is Pixie Pink with some Haiku DSP for the sides and frames with several of the stickers from the Petal Party Simply Scrappin' Kit to finish off the page.

November SB Class - The Rest of the Pages

 

Well, here's the next double-page spread from our class. We did two different kits this month. This is what I called the Bella Rose Kit. For this kit, we used the Bella Rose Designer Series Paper and the Chateau Bella Rub-ons.

Of course, I always like to add my own little something to the pages, too. For these pages, we added the Scallop Circle punch flowers and the Small Oval leaves which were crimped to give them texture and the veins. For the center of the flowers, it is from a 1" Circle Punched and speckled with the Close to Cocoa marker. And we also added a journal tag with some brads. When I first added the plaid paper to the pages, it still looked pretty plain, so I decided to try a small scallop edge with some of the flowered paper in the set. The finishing touches were added with the rub-ons.

   

These are the next two pages that we did. Here we made use of the little strips of paper left over from the scallops on the previous page. And on the Pirouette Pink page, we used the frames from the Top Note Dies from the previous page, also. I really loved the rub-on on the Pirouette Pink ribbon.

 

I really loved the way the first of these two pages came out. The side border just really do something for it. On the second page, it's hard to tell, but it's the same color as the previous page. I just wasn't able to adjust the color in my photo enough to get it back to the right color. On this one, I wanted more a mono-chromatic page and more use of the rub-ons. I'm not sure I'm real happy with it, but everyone else liked it.

 

I really liked the way these pages came out, too. On the first one, I love the way the corner accents help to dress up the heading. On the second one, I added the ribbon to the side to make it stand out a little more. I was very pleased with the way both of these came out. Again, I used the Top Note die for the frames.

November Scrapbook Kit - Bella Rose

November SB Class - 1st Double Page layout

 

Well, I finally got some more pages done. We did our November Scrapbook Class today and here are the first two pages from that. Now I just have to get some pictures onto my pages.

These pages were done with the Bella Rose DSP and Chateau Bella Rub-ons. The background is Riding Hood Red card-stock and the photo frames are Naturals White card-stock. The photo frames were cut out using the Top Note Bigz die. Having the photo frame shaped lends a little more elegence to the page.

November Card Class Projects

Here are the cards the bag that we made yesterday at our November Card Class. This was another fun class and these cards were much quicker to make than some of my previous ones.

The bag was made with Holiday Treasures DSP, Certainly Celery card-stock and White Taffeta ribbon. For the words on the tag, we just colored two of the words on one of the greeting stamps from Many Merry Messages with a marker and stamped it. Then we punched it out with the 1-1/4" Circle punch. It was then layered on a Garden Green 1-3/8" circle and a Ruby Red scallop circle. The flower is from Spotlight on Christmas and was colored with Summer Sun and Ruby Red markers then punched out with the 5-Petal punch. A little sparkle was added to the center of the flowers with Two-Way glue and Dazzling Diamonds glitter.

For the card in the back, the greeting is from Snow Swirled and the flowers are from Spotlight on Christmas. They were done in the same way as for the bag. For the background of the card we just drew diagonal lines one inch apart using the grid ruler that Stampin' Up! used to sell.

For the front left card, the trees from Lovely as a Tree were stamped with Old Olive and the greeting from Many Merry Messages was stamped with Ruby Red. Then we added little dots of Two-Way glue to the trees and some Dazzling Diamonds glitter to add a little sparkle like frost on the trees. This was cut out using the Top Note Bigz die and layered on Old Olive 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon, a strip of DSP from the I Wish Simply Scrappin' Kit and Ruby Red card-stock.

For the bottom right card, the card is Naturals White card-stock. The Night of Navy piece was punched on the edges with the Scallop Edge punch. We embossed the small piece of Whisper White with Iridescent Ice EP before cutting it out with the Snowflake die. Then that was layered onto Brocade Blue and then onto the punched Night of Navy. The finishing touch was a piece of Night of Navy 1/4" Grosgrain ribbon.

Another Birthday Card made with Punches

Here's another cute little guy that I've been wanting to make for quite a while. I have loved the little frogs that I've been seeing done with the punches. When my son saw it, he asked why I didn't make it for him. He's 21. LOL

This little guy is made up of both the large and small oval punches, 1-1/4" Circle, 1/4" Circle, Double Circle and Double Rectangle punches. When I first made him, my friend said that I needed to add a tongue. That's where the Double Rectangle punch comes in. Then I had to add some veins to the lily pads.

On the background, I wanted to get something that looked kind of like water. So I decided to try something that I'd heard about a long time ago. I took some wax paper, crumple up and used it to stamp some Tempting Turquoise ink onto the Tempting Turquoise card-stock. I think it worked out great.

Birthday Card made with Punches

I have been seeing several cute things that you can make with punches and I've been wanting to try some for quite a while. Well, now I have a great excuse to do it. This is a birthday card that I just made for my youngest granddaughter. Isn't that lion so cute? And he's made up entirely from punches and a few marker lines. It's a little time consuming, but it was so much fun to make.

The punches that were used were the Scallop Circle, 1-1/4" Circle, Small Oval, Large Oval, Wide Oval, Word Window, 1/2" Circle, 1/4" Circle, 1/8" Circle, Boho Blossoms and Designer Label punches.

Late Night Stampers Design Challenge #9

Late Night Stampers is a group that I belong to and each week they give us a new challenge. This week, the challenge was to use this sketch to make a card.

I realized after I started making my card that I probably should have made it bigger than 4x4. But I had already started so I decided to go ahead and finish it.

I wanted something that looked a little more masculine than what I usually do. So I used some of the plaid paper from the Banbury DSP.

Also, I've had my Watercolor Crayons for several months, but have hardly used them. I decided that it was time to pull them out and give them a try. The tree and the small leaves by the greeting are done with the Watercolor Crayons. I'm going to have to do this more often.

On the Bashful Blue semi-circle, I used the distressing tool from the Cutter Kit. I sponged the edge of the tag and the white semi-circle with Close to Cocoa.

 

Now I would like to challenge you to see what you can do with this sketch.

Saturday's Workshop - Progressive Page

For the workshop on Saturday, we made this 6x6 page. Very easy to make. We used mostly the Eastern Blooms stamp set. The word is from Baroque Motifs. The colors used were Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss and Whisper White.

 

Then I showed them how they could take that 6x6 page and make it into an 8-1/2x11 page. I didn't add a whole lot to this page because the 6x6 was pretty colorful and the top on this one was fairly colorful, too. But I did sponge the edge of the page some with Pacific Point.

The I showed how that could be made into a 12x12 page. On my last one that I shared, I moved the elements around some before attaching it to the 12x12 background. But this one I decided to leave them as is and add a title strip to the side. Once I figure out what pictures I want to put on this page, then I can figure out what title to put there.

Saturday's Workshop Projects

At the workshop I did yesterday, this was our first project. It is a bag made from an envelope. Everyone always enjoys learning how to make these. We used It's Beautiful jumbo wheel with Almost Amethyst ink. Then for the tag, we stamped a greeting from Best Yet Hostess set in Lovely Lilac and punched it out with the Wide Oval Punch. Then we inked up the small flower from Baroque Motifs with Summer Sun and Ruby Red markers and stamped it by the greeting. The greeting was then layered onto to wide ovals punched from Lovely Lilac card-stock. The top of the bag was punched with the Double Rectangle punch and closed with Very Vanilla Grosgrain ribbon.

This is the card we made for that same workshop. The Riding Hood Red Taffeta Ribbon with glued to the DSP from Holiday Treasures before the DSP was glued to the Whisper White card-stock. That way the ends of the ribbon didn't show. The Noel is from Many Merry Messages and is stamped in Ruby Red. For the little tag, the star was colored with a Summer Sun marker, the Baby Jesus was colored with Tempting Turquoise, and the words and baby's face are Chocolate Chip. It was then punched out with the 1-3/8" Circle Punch and layered onto a Riding Hood Red Scallop Circle.
