Quick and Easy Masculine Page

You would think that since I have six boys, I would do a lot of masculine pages. Unfortunately, I don't do very many that are more masculine. I do have a lot of pages that can be used for either masculine or feminine. So my challenge for myself was to sit down and make a masculine page. I do still need to get some photos, the title and journalling on it. But then, again, I have several pages that need the same thing. I just need to get motivated to finish them and I will have a really good start for this year.

For this page, the background is Night of Navy CS with a strip of Urban Garden DSP. The photo backgrounds are Baja Breeze and the title section is Whisper White. I used the Star and Large Star punches to add some stars to it. I sort of followed a layout from Pagemaps.com and did my own thing with it. But I got the general idea from the page map.

January Card Class

Here are the cards we did for our card class yesterday. We are getting a good start on cards that we will need through the coming year. We did two of each card at this class. I have decided to simplify the cards we are doing for our card classes to make it easier to get them done in the time that is set aside for the class.

I did use two new stamp sets for four new stamp sets for these cards and one of the new embosslit dies that match one of the stamp sets. We also got to use some of the half pearls from the Pretties set for the center of the flowers.

Another Quick Valentine

This is a really quick and simple card to make. The background is Pirouette Pink with Riding Hood Red and Candy Lane DSP along with some Whisper White. I used the Love You Much stamp set and colored the Love stamp with Ruby Red, Summer Sun and Garden Green markers. I then stamped the hearts with Riding Hood Red and used the Heart to Heart punch to punch out the hearts and add them to the page. I added some Crystal Effects to the leaf and flower on the Love image and put the smallest heart in the middle of the "o". I also added some little dots to the letters of the word "Love" to make them stand out a little more.

Valentine Card - Shadow Stamping

Here's another card I did the the Love You Much stamp set and the Heart to Heart punch. For the shadow stamping, I stamped first with Black Stazon ink. Then I stamped with Silver Encore ink using the Stamp-a-ma-jig, moving the image over slightly from the first time. I then embossed with Clear EP and cut out the heart. I then punched out some of the small heart from the Heart to Heart punch. I used some of the Candy Lane DSP with the Swirls Scribbles Sizzlit die to finish off the page. The background is Pirouette Pink and the hearts are Riding Hood Red. This is a very quick and eash card to make.

Try the shadow stamping. It's a fun technique.

Valentine Card

I don't usually get into making Valentine's Day cards, but after getting the Valentine's Bundle, I just had to make some Valentines. Here is on of my cards. I used the Love You Much stamp set with Close to Cocoa ink on a couple pieces of the Candy Lane DSP. I also wanted to try out the Swirls Scribbles Sizzlit die that I had gotten recently. After I had cut a couple of them out playing with them, I decided to make this card using the scraps from cutting out the swirls. I put that over some Regal Rose CS to help them stand out a little more.

Finished Page - November SB Class

I finally finished this page from one of the Scrapbook Classes in November. This was kind of a hard page to finish because I'm not used to using such bright colors and boy, is Pixie Pink bright. Admittedly, the DSP that I added to it did tend to tone it down a little.

For the title, I used the GoGo Boots Sizzlits Dies and cut out about three layers of the cardboard that comes in the back of the DSP packs and then the DSP to make my own chipboard type letters. I hadn't left any place to do journalling on this page, so I added a thin strip of Old Olive CS to the bottom of the page with the important info on it.

Now for the the new thing that I learned. I learned how the make my own "Dew Drops". It is done with Crystal Effects and re-inkers. Here is a close up of it from my page.

 There is a tutorial on how to make them at http://stampwithheather.typepad.com/stamp_with_heather/2008/06/make-your-own-dew-drops.html. This is such a fun technique. I am definitely going to have to do some more but in different colors.

Another Masculine Card

What makes this more masculine is the paper and the colors. I had cut out the scalloped circle a while back with the Scallop Circle #2 Bigz Die but couldn't figure out what to do with it. Well, in Late Night Stampers, we were given the challenge to make a masculine valentine card. I didn't get a masculine valentine card done, but I did put this card together with the intent of giving it to one of my sons.

On this card, I also used a technique that I haven't done for a while. After stamping the three images, I used the Blender Pens to pull the color from the outline of each image and give it some color. I had forgotten how fun it was to do the Blender Pens.

Holiday Bundle Rub-ons

This is a card that I made for my oldest daughter and her husband for their anniversary. I have been so wanting to use this flower from the Holiday Hostess Bundle and this was the perfect opportunity to do it. The two small words are from Everyday Flexible Phrases. The "Love" is from the Join in the Cheer Decorative Strip die. It doesn't show up very well, but I embossed the "Love" with Iridescent Ice EP to give it some sparkle. Then to keep if from looking quite so plain, I did add some punching to each of the corners.

Masculine Birthday Card

I've been needing to make a card that is more masculine because I have several boys that have birthdays coming up. I really love to use my Big Shot, too, so I used the Leaves #2 Bigz die to make this leaf. Then I used a bone folder to make the veins in the leaf and sponged the edges with Garden Green ink to give it a little more depth. To keep the bottom of the card from looking so plain, I added some punching to it. I also used the Key Tag punch and the Oval punch for the greeting.
