Clarksville TN Scrap Class - Masculine Pages

For our Scrap Class for this month, we did pages that were more masculine. I tend to use a lot of flowery things and more feminine colors on my pages. You would think with six boys, I would tend to do a lot more masculine pages than I do. For this class, we used To the Nines Specialty Designer Series Paper and Tailor Made Simply Scrappin Kit.  So, here's our pages from this class.

Here's the first double page layout. The background is Always Artichoke. The strips are from the DSP pack. I love this DSP because it is actually card-stock weight and has texture to it. The photo frames are made from Confetti White cs. Then for an added touch, leaves were cut out of Sage Shadow cs with the Stampin' Up! Little Leaves Sizzlit die. I was determined not to use any flowers on these pages, but I figured the leaves would fit a masculine page.

This double page layout uses Sahara Sand cs for the background with Close to Cocoa for the photo frames. The swirls were cut out with the Swirls Scribbles Sizzlit die from Not Quite Navy and Very Vanilla cs. The DSP is from the Simply Scrappin' Kit.

For this first page, the background is from the DSP pack with Close to Cocoa for the photo frames. The side is Sahara Sand cs run through the Big Shot with the Stampin' Up! Backgrounds I texture plates. I really love the way I could line it up with where I had run it through the first time and be able to get an almost seamless impression on the cs. The tag background on the left is cut from Chocolate Chip with the Lots of Tags Sizzlit die and then layered with a piece of Whisper White punched with the Wide Oval punch and finished with a couple of Antique brads.

For this second page, the background is the textured Sahara Sand cs that comes in the Simply Scrappin' Kit with some DSP from the DSP pack. The photo frames are Confetti White and the swirls are Always Artichoke cs cut with the Swirly Decorative Strip die. I did decide to add an eyelet to the tag at the top of the page.

For this first page, the background is the textured Chocolate Chip cs from the Simply Scrappin' Kit, while the DSP is from the DSP pack. The DSP was cut in half and then alternate sides used for each section. The photo frames are Close to Cocoa cs. The final touch for this page was a couple of eyelets at the top and the bottom on the left side of the page.

For this second page, the background is the textured Not Quite Navy cs from the Simply Scrappin' Kit. The DSP is from DSP pack. The photo frames are Confetti Cream cs along with the tag center, which was punch out with the Curly Label punch and layered on one of the stickers from the kit. I put a title on my page, but left it blank for eveyone else to do their own. I just wanted to show how the title could be put onto the page.

For this first page, the background is from DSP pack. The title bar is sticker strips from the Simply Scrappin' Kit layered with a strip of Sahara Sand cs. The tag is also done with a sticker layered with the same cs. The photo frames are Not Quite Navy CS. I decided to make this page a little different by angling the photo frames.

This last page has one of the sticker strips layered onto a strip of Sahara Sand cs at the top. The photo frames are Chocolate Chip cs. I love Stampin' Up!'s new embosslit dies. Everyone got a chance to try one out for this page. This page uses The Sweetest Stem embosslit die with Sahara Sand cs, which is layered onto one of the stickers from the Simply Scrappin' Kit and that was then layered onto another piece of Sahara Sand cs. The final touch for the tag was some Antique brads on the corners of the tag.

Clarksville TN Workshop Projects

Here is the card we made at Pam Johnson's workshop last night. We used the Stampin' Up! Backgrounds 1 texture plate on the Ruby Red card-stock for the card background. On the Whisper White cs, we punched the edges with the Scallop Edge punch and made little dots with the Chocolate Chip marker. A strip of Bella Rose DSP was layered over that. The flower is Pretty in Pink cut and embossed with the Flower Burst embosslit die. The leaves are Certainly Celery cut with the Little Leaves Sizzlit die. The tag is backed by a Large Oval punched from Certainly Celery. The tag, itself, was cut from Whisper White with Lots of Tags Sizzlit die and sponged with Chocolate Chip ink. The greeting is from Sincere Salutations stamp set stamped with Chocolate Chip ink.

This is where the Stamp-a-ma-jig comes in real handy. You can't stamp you words and then cut them out because you can't see where the edge of the tag is when you lay you card-stock over it. By using the Stamp-a-ma-jig, I can get the words exactly where I want them on the tag and to make sure they will fit.

Then we made this 6x6 scrapbook page. The background is Baha Breeze cs run through the Big Shot with a Stampin' Up! Backgrounds 1 texture plate. Then a strip of Delicate Dots DSP from the Sale-A-Bration mini-catalog was layered on that. The flowers were punched out of So Saffron cs with the Trio Flower punch and sponged a little with More Mustard ink. Then we put little dots on the flowers with the More Mustard marker and used More Mustard brads for the flower centers. A very quick and simple page to do, but still cute. Everyone loved the projects.

Another Late Night Stampers Challenge #7 Entry

As I said before, I love the Texturez plates and the Big Shot. This challenge was to used the Big Shot and at least one punch. For this card, I used the Background 1 Texturez Plates on the card and on the Top Note. I also used a Night of Navy marker around the edge of the Top Note. I used the Polka Dot Punches stamp set to stamp the flowers on So Saffron cs with So Saffron ink and then punched them out with the 5-Petal punch. For the leaves, I stamped the heart from Polka Dot Punches on Certainly Celery cs with Certainly Celery ink. Then I punched out the Small Oval from that so the leaves would have some design. The ovals were then folded in half and run through the crimper to make the veins on the leaves. The flower center was stamped with the same flower only on Whisper White with the Tangerine Tango ink and then punched out with the 1/2" circle punch.

The greeting is from Sincere Salutations. I stamped it first with Night of Navy and then with Bashful Blue ink to give it a shadow appearance.

Late Night Stampers Challenge #7

For our challenge this week, we were to use one of Stampin' Up!'s Sizzix dies or Texturez plates and one of Stampin' Up!'s punches. I just got my Texturez plates the other day and was playing with a couple of different techniques so I used what I came up with in my playing to make these cards.

For this card, I ran the Whisper White through with one of the Stampin' Up! exclusive Texturez plates. Then I rubbed the Riding Hood Red ink pad over the top of it to give the raised portions some color. I really like the way it came out. The tag in the middle is from the Love You Much stamp set stamped on Pirouette Pink and Whisper White. The center was then punched out with the 1-14" Circle punch and the pink was punched out with the Scallop Circle Punch. There are two Handsome Hunter scallop circles layered underneath that to make it stand out a little more.

For this card, I inked up the same Texturez plate and placed the Whisper White card-stock over it and ran it through the Big Shot. This technique tends to really bring out the embossing. I used one of the Sizzlits dies from Lots of Tags to cut out the tag background from Sage Shadow card-stock. The greeting is from Lots of Love stamped with Riding Hood Red ink and the flowers are from Sweet Stems, colored with Pretty in Pink and Sage Shadow markers. The finishing touch is some Very Vanilla taffeta ribbon. The Texturez plates adds lots of pizzazz too the card so it doesn't need much of anything else.

Scallop Border Video

Well, it took longer than I thought it would trying to figure out how to put a video into my post. But I finally got it worked out. Here is the tutorial that I promised showing how to put a scalloped border on the heart. Please leave a comment and let me know what you think of it.

Another Valentine Card

As you can see, I love scallops. I also love ribbon. I had seen a card that someone did using the Scallop Edge punch and the Crop-a-dile, where she punched holes in the scallop to make it look a little more lacy. So I started playing with my Crop-a-dile to see what I could come up with. And this is it!

I used some of the grid paper to evenly space the hole in the top of the card that I threaded the White Taffeta ribbon through. And of course, I used the Scallop Edge punch on the bottom of the White Vellum card-stock and the Bella Rose DSP. These are layered onto Whisper White card-stock with the saying from Sincere Salutations stamped in Riding Hood Red ink.

The heart is from Love You Much and stamped with Silver Encore ink onto a piece of Bella Rose DSP and embossed with Siver EP. Then I cut the heart out. The scallop around the heart is made using the Scallop Circle punch and the 1-3/8" Circle punch.

Be sure to check back in the next day or two. I'm working on a video tutorial on how to make the scallop around the edge of the heart. It can also be used on other things, too.
