Stamping With Juanita

Last week's workshop projects

I just had to use some of my stamps that were gong to be discontinued for this workshop. It was my last time to share them with my customers. Plus I was looking for a way to use some of my scraps of Yoyo Yellow CS. So I used two strips of Yoyo Yellow and punched it with with Eyelet Border Punch. On top of those strips is layered some 1/4" Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon. The background of the card was Whisper White CS stamped with the Classic Stripes Background Stamp using Yoyo Yellow ink. On the tag, I used the cupcake from the Darling Dots Hostess stamp set, colored with Yoyo Yellow, Pretty in Pink, Real Red and Chocolate Chip markers. The greeting is from Sincere Salutations stamped in Real Red ink. This piece was then layered onto Real Red CS.

This was the second project for the workshop. We always make a little gift bag from an envelope. On this bag, we used Fifth Avenue Floral. The inks used to stamp the flowers were Bashful Blue, Pixie Pink and Apricot Appeal. The tag was stamped on Whisper White with Black Stazon ink and punched out with the Scallop Oval Punch. This was layered onto a piece of Pixie Pink CS that was punched with the Wide Oval Punch. The top of the bag was punched with the Eyelet Border Punch. Then we used the Double Rectangle Punch to make the holes to close the bag with. The bag was then closed with some 1/4" Apricot Appeal Grosgrain Ribbon.

As I mentioned before, we do a 6x6 page and then I show them how it can be up-sized to whatever size page they use. This is called Progressive Page. This is the 6x6 page that everyone did at the workshop. This part uses Paper from the Love Stories Simply Scrappin' Kit. Both Apricot Appeal and Whisper White CS was cut with the Top Note die. Then white one was trimmed along the perforation so that it could be layered on top of the apricot piece. The corners were done using the Swirls Scribbles Sizzlite die. Everyone thought it made the page look elegant.

This is the 8-1/2x11 portion of the page. The Whisper White for the journalling tag was run through the Big Shot twice. Once the Top Note was cut out, I rotated it and ran it through, again. The flowers and leaves are cut out of Real Red, Yoyo Yellow and Garden Green CS with the Stampin' Up! Birds and Blooms Sizzlit dies. The page background is Gable Green CS.

This was the final step for the page. The background of this page is Bashful Blue Textured CS. The two side borders are from a strip of Real Red that was punched with the Eyelet Border punch. The strip on the right is the left over strip after punching the left strip. The photo backgrounds are Yoyo Yellow CS. Then I decided to add a little more to it by doing some dry embossing, using the Priceless Brass template, between the photo sections. The ladies loved this page. Stampin' Up!'s Pop-up Cake die

As promised, here's the video for the Pop-up Cake Die. There are so many cute projects that can be done with this die and they aren't just making cakes. I've seen projects made where it was used to make a boat, a flower pot and even a sand castle. Watch the video to see how to use this die.

This Week's Workshop

My Hostess had asked to learn how to do the Faux Silk. So that's what we did for this card. It is very easy and very fun to do. Every one at the workshop loved it.

For this card we used Eastern Blooms and Sincere Salutations for the stamps. The flowers and the stitching were done with Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie markers. The greeting was stamped with Black Stazon ink. The card-stock is Whisper White and Tangerine Tango, which will be retiring at the end of the month.

This is the 6x6 page that everyone made for this class. I had seen others put the dots on the card-stock after running it through the Big Shot with one of the Texturz Plates from the Stampin' Up! Backgrounds 1 set, so I decided to try it with this page. I really love the way that it brought out the texture. Everyone else did, too. I ran both the Pumpkin Pie CS and the Confetti White CS through the Big Shot with the Texturz Plate, also. I took a strip of DSP (Designer Series Paper) from the Candy Lane set for the side border and punched it with the Scallop Edge Punch. Then I layered a narrow strip of Apricot Appeal CS under it to make it stand out a little more. Very easy to do.

Then I showed the ladies how they could make it into an 8-1/2x11 page by adding other elements to it. The background is Certainly Celery CS, with a couple more photo frames added at the bottom. The flowers are from the Blooms Again Die-Cuts with some So Saffron brads for the centers. I tied a piece of Apricot Appeal 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon around the page. I did put Close to Cocoa dots on the photo frames at the bottom of the page after texturizing them.

Now here's the final stage of the progressive page. I then showed them how they could take both of the parts, the 6x6 and the 8-1/2x11 and make a 12x12. I figured since we had used the White Gel Pen on the original page, I would also use it on the larger part of the page. The background of the page is Apricot Appeal Textured CS. I used the Dotted Lines Jumbo Wheel and a cartridge with VersaMark ink to make the lines along the bottom portion, which can be used for journalling. The strip of Old Olive CS is cut with the Swirly Decorative Stip die. Then I did what's called the Bandana Technique by putting white dots around the swirls. I also made the white dots along the edges of the top of the page, which is DSP from the Candy Lane set of paper.

Another New Page from Andrea
