Sudsol Sketch Challenge #25

Here's what I did for the Sudsol Sketch Challenge for this week. I used My Digital Studio to make this card. I love doing challenges to help get my creative juices going.

I wanted to figure out a way to add some distressing to the two pieces of Whisper White. So I added a photo block, put the Distressed DSP to the photo block, resized it to the tag size and then lowered the opacity on it. For the oval distressing, I resized the photo block and then clicked on Photo Shape to give it the rounded shape.

Simple Sympathy Card

I wanted to make a quick and simple sympathy card for a friend who just lost her young daughter. Thoughts and Prayers is a great stamp for doing just that. But I didn't want it to look too plain, either. So I used the Finial Press Textured Impressions Folder on the background. Then I put little dots of Tombow Multi-Purpose Adhesive on the leaves of the tree and added some of the green glitter from Fine Cosmo Stampin' Glitter to give the tree some sparkle.

Thursday Color Challenge #6

So here are the colors for this week's Color Challenge.

Here's what I made using these colors.

For this challenge, I not only used the colors, I also used the NEW Awash With Flowers stamp set which will be available for sale in April. It will part of the Two-Step into Spring promotion. It's also one of the new stamp sets that will be in the new Idea Book and Catalog in July.

I so love two-step stamping. It's been quite a while since I've done any. I've have found with this new set that I really like have the Clear Mount stamps when it come to two-step stamping, too.

February's Scrapbook Class Pages

For last month's Scrapbook Class, I decided to use Sending Love DSP. I loved the glitter look on the papers. Here are the pages that we made.

On these two pages, we used the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die and Beautiful Wings Embosslit. For the center of the large butterflies, we used the Sending Love Epoxy Brads. Then for the edge of the photo mats and the tag background, we used the Scallop Trim Border and Corner Punches. You can see the shine of the glitter in these photos if you click on them to see the larger version of them.

On these pages, you can't see the glitter on the DSP, but it makes it looks gorgeous. The Scallop Trim Border Punch was used for the top border and the Pinking Hearts Border Punch was used on the photo mats. Sending Love Epoxy Brads are used on the center of the bows.

The side borders were done with the Pinking Hearts Border Punch. On the photo mats, we used the Pinking Hearts Corner Punch on the Real Red CS and then layered onto Very Vanilla CS. Then we added some hearts that were punched with Heart to Heart Punch. Again, you can't see the glitter on this page, but it's there.

I really love the New Scallop Trim Border and Corner Punches that were used on this page. I also love the New 2 Step Bird Punch. The birds were punched out of Pretty in Pink CS with the wings being punched out of the DSP. The hearts were punched with the Full Heart Punch and then run through the Big Shot with the Finial Press Textured Impressions Folder.

The top border was made using the Pinking Hearts Corner Punch. On this page, we also used the Full Heart Punch, Heart to Heart Punch, Daisies #2 Bigz Die and Sending Love Epoxy Brads. We also used Sprinkles stamp set to stamp the background.

You can check on my upcoming classes at my Events Page. As you can see, in my Scrapbook Classes, you do 10 pages that you can take home and just put the photos and journalling on them to finish. My class attendees love being to able do that many pages in such a short time.

Sudsol's Scrapbook Challenge #4

 

Here are the pages that I did for Sudsol's Scrapbook Challenge. We were given a very simple sketch and told to make a double-page spread by mirroring the layout for the second page. Here's what I did for my entry for the challenge. I've been planning on scrapbooking these photos for several years and finally got it done.

I made these pages with My Digital Studio. The clouds are part of the Sunny Days Designer Kit. The sun was made with circle and square punches. When I showed it to my son, he said that it needed the sun on it and I knew I could do it with the punches. It's so fun to come up with new ideas to do with the program.

When I first started doing the challenge, I forgot that it was supposed to be a double-page spread. I started doing something different, but didn't have enough photos of that event to do a double-page spread. But before I remembered, I had made a little punch art bear. I will make a different project with that bear later so that you can see it. So be sure to check back to see it.

Soul Scrappers Sketch Challenge #6

Here's the page I made for Soul Scrappers latest Sketch Challenge. I have been wanting to scrapbook this picture for a long time and this sketch seemed just perfect for it. This is from a tour we took in Salzburg when we were stationed in Germany several years ago.

As with several of my latest pages, this was made in My Digital Studio. Also, since I've done so many of my previous pages over the years with flowers on them, I was trying to stay away from using them on this page. So I used the star punch to add some decoration to it. This was another fun page to make.

Thursday Color Challenge #5

Here are the colors for this week's challenge.

These were fun colors to work with and they definitely lent themselves to doing a more masculine scrapbook page for two of my boys. Here's the page that I made using these colors.

As you can see from the pages that I've been posting, I definitely do not do my pages in any certain order. I have so many to still do from 30+ years worth, that I try to pick something that I think goes with the page that I'm making.

Anyway, I made this page with My Digital Studio. To make the title look embossed, it has three layers of the title. the black layer is placed one up and one left from the top layer. Then the white layer is moved one right and one down from the top layer. I think it really helps it to stand out, too.

I had tried the Small Polka Dot in Night of Navy for the background. But then I decided to try the Script Night of Navy after doing the photo mats with Small Polka Dot DSP in Dusty Durango and Crushed Curry. I liked the Script much better because it was a little lighter and made the photos and title stand out more.

When I use Eyelets in My Digital Studio, I add a circle punch that is resized to just slightly smaller than the eyelet, add the background DSP or color to it and then move it behind the eyelet. So it looks like you are seeing through the opening of the eyelet, like you would for real.

Stampin' Up!'s Window Sheets

Here's a great video that Stampin' Up! made to show you some of the uses for the Window Sheets.

Decor Elements Album

I have been wanting to decorate my scrapbook album for quite some time, but didn't have time to do it. Last week, I finally made the time to decorate my album. I used the Big Shot and the Decor Elements Vinyl to decorate it. I used the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die and Beautiful Wings Stampin' Up! Embosslit for the butterflies with Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery vinyl. I also used Swirly Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die with Certainly Celery vinyl and the Daisies #2 Bigz Die with Pumpkin Pie and So Saffron vinyl for the rest of it.

For the flower centers, I punched out some circles with 1/2" Circle Punch and the 3/4" Circle Punch and then covered them with Crystal Effects to give it some dimension. I also used the Crystal Effects to attach the flower centers because I wasn't sure how the other adhesives would work on the vinyl. My daughter is the one who got me started using Crystal Effects to add dimension or even sparkle to my projects. Admittedly I don't use it as much as she does. But it is a great addition to any project. You just have to give it time to dry.

My First Rag Bag

I've been seeing several of these Rag Bags done by other demonstrators and so wanted to make one for myself. I used the Big Shot and the Scallop Square Stampin' Up! Clear Bigz Die to cut out the blocks for this bag. I cut out the squares and the batting last night. Then I put it all together this morning. I showed it to a friend and now she wants me to make one for her.
