Vintage Vogue Progressive Page

For this progressive page, I decided that we would only work with Bold Bright colors. This first part of the page, the 6x6 page. This page used Gable Green, Glorious Green and Whisper White for the paper and Green Galore, Glorious Green and VersaMark ink. As you can see, the stamp set used was Vintage Vogue.

This is the 8-1/2x11 page. Brilliant Blue was used for the background. The flowers were cut out of Whisper White using the Simple Flower Embosslit. Then the flowers were sponged with Pixie Pink ink. The leaves were stamped on Whisper White with Green Galore and then cut out.

This final 12x12 page was done using Pixie Pink for the background. We added a title strip and used the masking technique that was used on the previous post. The border stamp in Vintage Vogue was stamped around the edge of the Pixie Pink with VersaMark ink.

February's Stamp Club Projects

This was a fun card that we made at our last Stamp Club. My class members learned how to do the Emboss Resist technique. I had seen a card that someone on Sudsol did with this technique and using this stamp set and it was so lovely. It was the inspiration for this card. My class members also love the way it gave this card an antique look. The stamp set used is Vintage Vogue.

And since it still isn't Valentine's Day yet, I decided to make this cute little Valentine door hanger. The heart is made with the Petal Card Bigz Die. The two bottom sections of the front and back are folded up and glued to the bottom section of the box,which is just a strip of Real Red CS. I have seen some really cute projects done with this die and I'm hoping to share some of them with you here in the  future.

Now here comes my favorite part of each workshop or club meeting. The scrapbook page.

This is the 6x6 portion of the page that everyone did. We used the NEW Extra Large Two-step Bird Punch and the NEW Scallop Trim Border Punch. Everyone really loves these new punches. And the heart is from the Heart to Heart Punch.

I learned how to make these flower buds from Jackie Topa. It is done using the Extra Large Two-step Bird Punch. Aren't they so cute? I used the Scallop Trim Corner Punch on the small photo blocks. I love this border punch and corner punch. They look so elegant.

The flower in the top left of this page is also done from the wings of the Extra Large Two-Step Bird Punch. It is from the same post of Jackie's. She is so inventive when it comes to using punches and I get lots of great ideas from her.

January Stamp Club

For this Stamp Club meeting, my ladies wanted to do dry embossing, specifically with a template that coordinated with a stamp set. For this card we used Priceless. After stamping the hearts, we then embossed them along with doing some embossing on the sides of the card. The final touch was to punch the bottom of the card with the NEW Pinking Hearts Border Punch and add a piece of Real Red cardstock to it.

As you can see, the 3-D project was a matchbox. Since we made a Valentine's card, I wanted the matchbox to go with it. You could call this a hybrid project, too, since I did use My Digital Studio to print of the Real Red DSP for the box. Again, we used the Pinking Hearts Border Punch for the Whisper White strip around it and some Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon to finish it off.

For this 6x6 page, the ladies got to try out Stampin' Up!'s NEW Clear Mount Stamps. We used Vintage Vogue from the Occasions Mini Catalog. Then for the photo blocks, they got to try out the new Pinking Hearts Corner Punch. I really love the way I can line up the stamp with the edge of my paper and with where I've already stamped, too, because I can see through the block to do it.

 

To make the 6x6 into an 8-1/2x11 page, I added some Creamy Caramel as the background, stamped it with the larger flower from Vintage Vogue and add the two photo blocks, which were punched with the Pinking Hearts Border Punch.

The final layer to this page, to make it into 12x12, is some Brocade Blue. This was also stamped with Vintage Vogue and then the photo blocks added to it. This is also another place where I added some printed DSP from My Digital Studio. I used it for the photo block backgrounds.

Jared's Album - 2

One of the things that I really like about My Digital Studio is that you can pick a color for your stamp that matches something in your photo. For this first page, since it was done several years ago, it has Forest Foliage for the background. Stampin' Up! replaced it with Handsome Hunter. So, with My Digital Studio, I was able to make my stamps match my background with the color picker. 

I have really been having fun making these pages for my kids, using my 8-1/2x11 pages as the photos for these pages and then adding stamps or embellishments to dress them up. I can't wait to get some more done for them.

Jared's Album - 1

I found that I hadn't done a page for when we brought Jared home from the hospital. So I did one from scratch since I am trying to do their album pages in order. Usually, I just skip around and scrap whatever I feel fits the pages that I'm making, especially since most of my paper pages are done for classes.

As with the previous pages for my kids albums, these were also done with My Digital Studio. For the photos, I used Shape and it made the photos into ovals. Then I took the Scallop Oval Punch and enlarged it to make the frame for the photos.

For the second page, I used All Scallops and layered them to do the page edges. I made sure to make the background the same color as the leaves on my paper page.

My Oldest Daughter's Album

  

Here's a couple of the pages I used in my daughter's album using My Digital Studio. The one on the right is one of those Stampin' Up! calendar pages that I made a few years ago for several of my kids.

On the page on the left, I double stamped the flower from Berry Christmas and rotated the top layer to make the flower a little fuller. The center is also from that same set.

My Oldest Son's Album

The pages that I've shown so far from my kids albums have been ones that I duplicated in each album in My Digital Studio. Here are a couple of the individual pages that I did for my oldest son.

These two pages showed a couple of fun events in his first year. These were fun pages to do. Again, for these pages, I used a scan of my 8-1/2x11 pages and used them as an 8-1/2x11 photo on a 12x12 digital page in My Digital Studio. As I get farther into his growing up years, the album will include pages that also have his siblings with him.

You, too, can make easy fun pages for your kids and family to enjoy. My kids can't wait to see the pages I will give them next Christmas to add to their albums. If you're like me, you've done some pages but don't want to part with them, but don't want to do them all over again for your kids. I love the way I can use the pages I've already done and just add to them to make these albums for my kids.

Albums for my kids 2

I am sharing some more of the pages from the albums that I made for my kids for Christmas that I made with My Digital Studio.

My kids knew who their grandparents were, but their kids don't really understand the relationship of their great-grandparents. So now when they are shown these pages, they will know that these are grandma and grandpa's parents. I know I am more of a visual person and I'm sure my grandkids are, too.

Again, I took my 8-1/2x11 paper pages that I had scanned and used them as the focal point in the 12x12 digital pages.  It was so easy to put a photo block on the page and size it to the right size and add the photo of the page that I wanted, then add the embellishments to the sides.

Don't get me wrong. I still love to do scrapbooking with paper, too. But a few years ago, I made calendars for each of my kids, using Stampin' Up!'s blank calendars. I did the scrapbook page part of the calendars with photos of the family through several years and I did seven of them. It was very time consuming. The hardest part, I think, was when they got thrown away because of the work that I had put into them. I did save the pages on the one that I gave my husband and I'm sure those pages will be incorporated into these scrapbooks.

Sudsol CASE Challenge #14

It's been a while since I did a CASE Challenge on Sudsol, so when I saw the challenge come in this morning, I decided to give it a try. This is what I came up with.

 

I've decided that I need a larger variety in the type of cards that I make, too. I very seldom seem to do anniversary cards and since I have several anniversaries that I need to send them out for, I need to make more of them.

Most of my projects, lately have been made with My Digital Studio. That's because I love using the program. It is so quick and easy to put a project together, just like the pages I did for my kids for Christmas. It would have taken so much longer to do them with paper, especially since I would have had to make copies of each of the pages that were duplicated in each album. AND I don't have to worry about wasting paper or embellishments.

Also, with my Christmas cards, I designed several different cards and then I could just print off whichever ones that I wanted in whatever quantity that I wanted. And since I was very short on time this year for Christmas, I did not have time to hand-make each card for friends and family.

Albums for my kids

Well, I told you the other day that I would share some of the pages that I put in my kid's albums that I made for them. So here is the first page. I put these albums together with My Digital Studio.

This page consists of two digital pages that I had done several years ago with some photos that my Mom had gotten from a distant relative. The fist one is my great-great grandparents and their family. The next one is my grandfather's family. In the bottom photo on the right, he is the baby on his mother's knee. The top photo is his father and all of the children. I really love doing genealogy and this is a way to be able to show my children some of their ancestors.

I only had photos of one set of my husband's grandparents and I had photos of both sets of my grandparents. I had put these pages together several years ago when I had been asked to show how genealogy could be worked into your scrapbooking.

As you can see, there is an 8-1/2x11 page in the center of the 12x12 page. When I had started scrapbooking several years ago, that was the size that I used. To make these scrapbooks for my kids, I had scanned my original pages and used them as a photo on the 12x12 page. Then all I had to do was create a background around them.

It was really funny, though, because a few days before Christmas, my daughter was telling me how when my Mom called to wish her daughter a happy birthday, she ended up getting into a discussion with her girls about grandparents, great-grandparents and trying to explain who they were and how they were related. My daughter said that she was going to have to put together a scrapbook so her girls could see the relationships. I had to really bite my tongue since I was already putting one together for them. When I talked to my daughter after they opened presents, she said that the album was the best present ever. All of my kids who received them this year asked me if I'm going to add to them each year. I had hoped they would want me to and it looks like they do. It is definitely a lot easier to take a page that's already done and convert it to a bigger page than to have to start from scratch.
