Thursday Color Challenge #4

Sorry I'm a little late with today's Color Challenge. I've been watching a friend's baby and he's been kind of fussy.  Here's the colors for this challenge.

This week we are going with four colors. Here's what I've done with these colors. I'm not sure this is the best example of this color combination. I made this page with My Digital Studio. I got the page layout from PageMaps.

Soul Scrappers Sketch Challenge #5

This is the page is made for Soul Scrapper's Sketch Challenge 5. Even though I have mostly boys, I tend to use a lot of flowers in my layouts. For this one, I was trying to get away from that tendency, even though my oldest daughter is in the photos, too. I did this page with My Digital Studio. All of the paper is from My Sweet Pea Designer Kit. This was my first chance to use the New Satin Ribbons that were just released. I also used the School Book Serif alphabet. As you can see, I resized the "i" to make it stand out more.

Scrapbook Sketch Challenge #5

On Stampin' Connection, which is a Ning site for Stampin' Up! demonstrators, we had a Scrapbook Sketch Challenge. Here is the page that I did for this challenge.

I love these challenges, too, because it helps me to get more scrapbook pages done. This page was done using My Digital Studio. I used some of the NEW Spring Shades DSP on this page. I also used buttons from Button Latte.

Soul Scrappers Sketch Challenge #4

This was a very simple sketch to follow for this challenge. But I find that sometimes the simple sketches are the harder ones to figure out what to do with them, especially those that have lots of journalling space. I tend to have a hard time trying to figure out what to say for my journalling. But once I found the photos that I wanted to use, it ended up not being so hard to come up with something after all.

I also don't use the alphabets that are in My Digital Studio very often either. But the title for the page was a great place to put them to use. I used the Just Perfect alphabet here. I like being able to make my lettering crooked when I do titles for my pages. Another thing I like about MDS is being able to type in lots of journalling into a much smaller space than I could hand-write it into. And it looks neater, too. 

I didn't want to use a patterned paper for the background because I figured that would make it too busy. But a plain color would make it too plain. So I used the Textured cardstock that is now available for download.

Thursday Color Challenge #2

Here's this week's Color Challenge to help get your MOJO working. This is Color Challenge #2.

Here's is what I did with these colors. I've decided to do a scrapbook page for my sample this time. As you can see, I used My Digital Studio to make my page. I really love the fact that you can resize the punches to whatever size you want.

Now let's see what you can make with these colors.  You are free to make a card, a scrapbook page or even a 3-D project. Just use these colors. You may also use neutral colors. After you make you item for the challenge, please post your link here so everyone can see what you've made.

 

Theme Challenge 3

I've joined a site called Soul Scrappers and one of the challenges for this week was a theme challenge. We were to make a page where the theme was "All about ________." It could be about whatever we chose and we could use as many photos as we wanted and whatever layout we wanted.

Here are the pages that I did for the challenge. I haven't been doing very well at getting any scrapbooking done lately. So this was a perfect opportunity to get something done. It also gave me the chance to do some pages with the pictures of our pups that I've been meaning to get done for a while, too.

These pages were done in My Digital Studio. I love the fact that you can use any font installed on your computer for your text. The little dog stamps are from the stamp set Man's Best Friend and the background is from My Sweet Pea Designer Kit.

February's Stamp Club Projects

This was a fun card that we made at our last Stamp Club. My class members learned how to do the Emboss Resist technique. I had seen a card that someone on Sudsol did with this technique and using this stamp set and it was so lovely. It was the inspiration for this card. My class members also love the way it gave this card an antique look. The stamp set used is Vintage Vogue.

And since it still isn't Valentine's Day yet, I decided to make this cute little Valentine door hanger. The heart is made with the Petal Card Bigz Die. The two bottom sections of the front and back are folded up and glued to the bottom section of the box,which is just a strip of Real Red CS. I have seen some really cute projects done with this die and I'm hoping to share some of them with you here in the  future.

Now here comes my favorite part of each workshop or club meeting. The scrapbook page.

This is the 6x6 portion of the page that everyone did. We used the NEW Extra Large Two-step Bird Punch and the NEW Scallop Trim Border Punch. Everyone really loves these new punches. And the heart is from the Heart to Heart Punch.

I learned how to make these flower buds from Jackie Topa. It is done using the Extra Large Two-step Bird Punch. Aren't they so cute? I used the Scallop Trim Corner Punch on the small photo blocks. I love this border punch and corner punch. They look so elegant.

The flower in the top left of this page is also done from the wings of the Extra Large Two-Step Bird Punch. It is from the same post of Jackie's. She is so inventive when it comes to using punches and I get lots of great ideas from her.

January Stamp Club

For this Stamp Club meeting, my ladies wanted to do dry embossing, specifically with a template that coordinated with a stamp set. For this card we used Priceless. After stamping the hearts, we then embossed them along with doing some embossing on the sides of the card. The final touch was to punch the bottom of the card with the NEW Pinking Hearts Border Punch and add a piece of Real Red cardstock to it.

As you can see, the 3-D project was a matchbox. Since we made a Valentine's card, I wanted the matchbox to go with it. You could call this a hybrid project, too, since I did use My Digital Studio to print of the Real Red DSP for the box. Again, we used the Pinking Hearts Border Punch for the Whisper White strip around it and some Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon to finish it off.

For this 6x6 page, the ladies got to try out Stampin' Up!'s NEW Clear Mount Stamps. We used Vintage Vogue from the Occasions Mini Catalog. Then for the photo blocks, they got to try out the new Pinking Hearts Corner Punch. I really love the way I can line up the stamp with the edge of my paper and with where I've already stamped, too, because I can see through the block to do it.

 

To make the 6x6 into an 8-1/2x11 page, I added some Creamy Caramel as the background, stamped it with the larger flower from Vintage Vogue and add the two photo blocks, which were punched with the Pinking Hearts Border Punch.

The final layer to this page, to make it into 12x12, is some Brocade Blue. This was also stamped with Vintage Vogue and then the photo blocks added to it. This is also another place where I added some printed DSP from My Digital Studio. I used it for the photo block backgrounds.

Jared's Album - 2

One of the things that I really like about My Digital Studio is that you can pick a color for your stamp that matches something in your photo. For this first page, since it was done several years ago, it has Forest Foliage for the background. Stampin' Up! replaced it with Handsome Hunter. So, with My Digital Studio, I was able to make my stamps match my background with the color picker. 

I have really been having fun making these pages for my kids, using my 8-1/2x11 pages as the photos for these pages and then adding stamps or embellishments to dress them up. I can't wait to get some more done for them.
